Are Social Media Ads worth it???- Let’s go -

I was talking to a musician who said I bought so many ads on Facebook and IG and they never seem to work. 🤷🏽‍♂️ He then said that his likes and followers grew, but his phone didn’t ring as a result. Well after a bit of conversation, I found out that he never really bought ads, he boosted posts. And that my friend is a horse 🐎of a different color. I’m sure you know this already, but when you talk about social media advertising it is indeed a part of marketing. It delivers paid ads to your target audience, whether on Facebook, IG, Twitter, TikTok, and the rest of them. First, let me speak to my OGs (or should I say adult contemporary audience) that say they despise social media. Take the word social off and all you have is media. Think of how much it costs to run an ad on traditional media like radio, TV, or even a print ad. Kinda pricy huh; It’s all media. Don’t let the fact that it seems to be for “the young’stas,” make you take your eye off the importance of a social media ad. And guess what, it’s cheaper than all of the other forms of media and if done correctly can reach a massive amount of people, especially YOUR target audience. And for you young ones out there doing big things, playing music, dropping new singles on Spotify every month, gigging all over the place, don’t get likes and shares mixed up with ROAS (Return On Ad Spend) or ROI (Return On Investment) for that matter. You can’t spend 10 dollars to make 5 dollars. You have to be wise when you play this game; think chess, not checkers.

The reality is, social media advertising is a must if you want to reach your target audience expeditiously (I got that from Joe Clark 🤣) and with a higher rate of conversions. If you want to keep up with your competition, it’s important you learn how social media ads work and how as a DIY musician, they can benefit you. First, you simply must know the difference between an ad and a boosted post. A boost on Facebook and Instagram is easier to do than ads, and soooo many people get them confused. Unlike an ad, a boosted post is a regular post that you pay to reach a wider audience. This helps more people see your post and be seen more often by users who will probably engage with your content. It’s not sending them anywhere to actually buy though. Social ads on the other hand offer a ton of analytics options, giving you several different ways to track your ad engagement and define your campaign goals. You must have goals! Additionally, ads offer highly specific targeting options. This allows you to target ads to users by demographics, and psychographics. Let’s talk numbers just a little bit, I’m not a math guy at all so doesn’t worry, this won’t get too deep. According to sociallybuzz.com social media, advertising is effective because it influences purchases

Social media advertising is effective because it influences purchase decisions on social media platforms. On average, 28% of people who use the internet found new products after viewing social media ads. With 4.55 billion (with a B) people using social media, it’s a good chance that your ad will be viewed by the people you want to see it. It’s got to be interesting though. Video ads usually trend higher than static ads. It’s not a problem to run a 15-second ad with your ax or your music behind you. The creatives that you create will keep the eyes on your ad and the longer they stay the more likely they are to buy.
