Ok, I’m on a little bit of a roll with this AI (Artificial Intelligence) stuff, so I’ll go one mo week of it with ChatGPT. Ever heard of it? You may have and just not known about it. And trust me on this, we are learning together. So if any of you have worked with or know something that needs to be said about chatGPT, please add to the conversation. All of this will be taking over the music industry soon enough. And unlike when downloads, streaming and Napster came along, we will not be blindsided. As long as we work together and each one teach one, we will flourish in this new paradigm. So let’s start from the beginning, Airmetrics defines ChatGPT as an intelligent chatbot that helps automate chat tasks. Its name is the acronym for Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer. 
Created by Open AI in 2022, it is based on the OpenAI GPT-3 engine and is designed to provide natural and fluid responses to the user through chat through learning and reinforcement techniques. The chatbot is built on machine learning technology, which means it can adapt to different situations and interactions to deliver a more personalized and effective experience. Yeah, that’s a mouthful and enough to make your head hurt. But now that we got that part out of the way, let’s keep it 100 and get down to what we do Unda The Hat. ChatGPT-4’s can understand and interpret images and can do everything from identifying and describing album covers to analyzing concert photos from your social media pages that can help define your audience behavior. Wow, what happened to just making sure you knew your circle of 5ths or what an augmented major 13th chord was? Or…or… for you cats that play by ear, being able to match something cool that you heard on the radio the other day? Long…sigh…sorry, I digress. Don’t want to get caught up in the “back in my day blues.” Here’s something else chatGPT can do, it could be used to make captions or descriptions for YouTube music videos, and it could even analyze album art for themes and cool factors that could inform marketing and branding strategies. I know what you old funkateers are saying out there too, that thing can’t feel emotions, can’t feel the funk! Well….UXmagizine says Artificial intelligence systems can get familiar with your behaviors by interacting with you. At that point, AI systems can respond to you in the most “compassionate” way (it decides from its data bank) in circumstances when empathy is called for. Ain’t that wild!
Our good friends over at CDbaby give us 5 ways DIY musicians can use chatGPT. 1 - Write a business plan or grant proposal. 2 - Write an artist bio, headline, ad copy, or press release (that’s kindah what I do so that makes me feel some kindah way…😒) 3 - Help with booking tours. 4 - Content creation. Not like making your posts, but great for ideas of what to put on TikTok. 5 - Collaborate on a song 🤯wait what??? Yeah, I believe it’s coming, it’s not here yet, but it’s coming y’all. Ok, I’m sure you realize that I didn’t even scratch the surface, but if I got you thinking, then it’s worth it. This is not your grandfather's music industry, and as I said earlier, we don’t have to sit around and get caught sleeping as Artificial intelligence and Augmented Reality begin to change how we make music and get it out in the atmosphere.
