The OAC & IAOTW - Itamiyo

Hey, it’s TJ Miller, you want some game? Let's Tip Unda The Hat!

This week, YouTube OAC,  Let’s go -

If you didn’t know by now, YouTube is the second largest search engine behind google. That’s right YouTube, and since its inception in 2005 it has literally transformed the way we digest information on the web. As DIY or DIWO (Do It With Others) musicians, artists, writers etc, you already know how important YouTube is with visitors watching over 6 billion (with a B) hours of content every month. So with that said, here is an important feature that has been added that I want to hip you to. First a little review, a while back I stated that it is important for you to have both a personal and a professional page with all of your socials. All your pro pages should have the same vibe and should speak one language where it pertains to your brand. Your official picture, your logo and a link to your website should be included. The web as I’m sure you’ve seen by now, likes consistency. You can either sit on your phone or laptop all day and post post post, or get a tool like Ripl or hootsuite to give you a consistent posting schedule. This will allow you to not only post to YouTube but to your other socials all at the same time. So here’s the biggest thing I want to talk about today, it's the use of YouTube's Official Artist Channel or OAC. The OAC will strengthen your brand, help boost your SEO and give you more control over your content. Let’s face it, many of us (self included) start a social page, mess it up and start another one, or forget the password or even how to retrieve it and it’s easier to just start another page. Now you’ve got 3 or 4 YouTube channels with a little bit of content on each one and a handful of subscribers on each one as well. Getting an OAC on YouTube will allow you to gather all that content and put it in one place, galvanize all of your subscribers and give you deeper analytics. When your fans or customers subscribe to your OAC page they get an email and notification letting them know of your new content. Now truth be told, it’s easier to get an OAC through one of the distribution channels like CDbaby, Distrokid or Tunecore, but of course you can go directly through YouTube but it is way more complicated. Ok hope that helps, continue to stay safe out there.

This week's Independent Artists of the Week is Itamiyo unsigned independent Rapper from Cameroon. Debut EP available now.
