This week, what’s the difference between keywords and hashtags? - Let’s go -

Two of the biggest “buzz words” when talking about social media, are keywords and #hashtags. I’ve heard some people use them interchangeably, even though they are cousins, they are a bit different. We can say that they both are used to increase your persona and visibility online. They both make your music easier to find when googled, binged, or yahooed. However, the big difference, one is used for your website or Youtube SEO, and hashtags for your social media search. One thing to keep in mind is that it’s a good idea to have your keywords compliment your hashtags. Another key difference is that your followers and friends also use hashtags to find music like yours or for you specifically. Bots, on the other hand are used to search out and find keywords, as do your followers and friends to find pages on your website. Keywords are terms and phrases that are used to find specific content, and hashtags are similar to emojis, in that they are more expressive, and are usually 1 to 3 maybe 4 words, and convey emotion and….now of course I know I don’t have to say this but, the hashtag has the # in front of the word. But y’all knew that.

Hashtags allow you to find songs, dances, and content on your social channels like Instagram and tiktok. Though you can use up to 30 on IG and there is no set number on tiktok, you want to use about 5 - 10 on IG and 3 - 5 on tiktok, it looks cleaner and your hashtag placement is important too. Keywords go beyond just what you are looking for or who is looking to find your and your content. Keywords indicate search intent, why are you searching for this or that. What is the reason you are searching for certain topics to find website pages? Keywords go into that type of knowledge. In addition you can use keyphrases to help bots find your website pages or pictures and music.

So to sum it all up, Keywords are useful for your SEO and website traffic, and hashtags help your core audience and followers find you and your music on social media.
