Facebook for business & Independent Artist of the Week.

Hey, it’s TJ Miller, you want some game? Let's Tip Unda The Hat!

This week, Facebook,  Let’s go -

Last week we started talking about social media for the DIY musician and independent business owner. So let’s break that down a bit and look at Facebook. In sales you look for drivers or “who drives the business.” According to digitalmarketing.org the average user spends 38 minutes each day on Facebook. Despite the rumors from Gen Z and Alpha that people have started abandoning the platform, Facebook still has 2.23 billion daily active users, and  80% do so from their phone. More than half of the Facebook users are aged between 18 and 34 - sound like your customers or fans?

The reality is Facebook is still the go to when it comes to promoting your music or business online. There are however, some tips to making it as advantageous as possible. One of the biggest tips that I can offer is to create a business page. If you are promoting your business you don’t want to do it from the same page you got into a facebook war about sugar or salt on grits. This doesn’t mean that you can’t share your music on your personal page, just do it via your business page. Represent your brand well. When you set up your business page, make sure that your brand image is placed in both the profile and cover photos. Your brand is what draws attention and sets the tone for who you are and what you do. Sync with other social medias i.e. Instagram, Twitter, Linkedin etc. Contrary to popular belief, social media is NOT free; remember the old adage time is money? You can spend a lot of time on social media, almost too much. There are, however, several apps that allow you to share to multiple sites at a time like Hootsuite. You do want to approach some items differently due to the specific nature of each platform, but there are times when one pic with one click to all the platforms works just fine.

Now the big question; when do I run Facebook ads? I would suggest when you have some traction. The best thing to do is generate organic traffic first. You do this by inviting your personal Facebook friends over. Once you get them engaged, look at your Facebook analytics to check best time of day for your customers. They are all different. If you are for example 2N1 Cutz in Duncanville TX, your run times will be different from D’ Marie Sings in Alabama.

Now I could go on for hours about how to use facebook, so if you would like to hear me pontificate more on the subject, give me a call, or email me.

This week's Independent Artists of the Week Todd Parsnow along with Jay Mck, and Frank Mocha are featured at The Jazz Jam at Jazz Becuzz every Tuesday Night 8:30 on Facebook and YouTube live. Click on the name, click on the pic to hear a sample, then tune in tonight.
