Do you need a Website & Independent Artist of the Week.

Hey, it’s TJ Miller, you want some game? Let's Tip Unda The Hat!

This week, Website, Let’s go -

With Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and other social media platforms, do you as an independent artist, businessperson, minister, comedian, or someone making jewelry trays etc really need a website? 🤷🏾‍♂️  Yeah you do. The most important reason is so that you can have ownership and control of your content. Having a website also helps you increase credibility, promote your business, and reach a wider audience. In today’s digital world it is important to have all of your social information in one place. Yes you’ve got Shopify, Amazon, Etsy and so on, but to maintain your control, avoid heated competition, and stay connected to your clients and associates, a website can be as important as the product you are selling and accentuate all of your efforts. But, let’s be real, websites are a lot to maintain and they are not free. Additionally, have you tried some of these DIY sites like Bandzoogle, WIX, Squarespace, Wordpress etc, they all taunt that it is fun and easy to set them up - no it’s not, trust me; but it’s worth it. It’s one of the best places for you to get gigs, up your SEO, and really your own site makes you look like you are in this to win this, not just a side hustle. The reality is, different demos look at different social sites. If you have a Facebook page, think again if you think your average 19 year old is going to find your music or anything else you’re selling; they aren’t there, they think it’s for old folks, (whatever 🙄  ). TikTok is fun to watch, but that is a serious time commitment to stay consistent there, and have you seen myspace lately? Yeah that’s my point, socials come and go with the latest trends and technology. Your website, however, can just be updated and add or remove socials as to their relevance for you, your brand and your content. Everything is in one place, you can get very personal with your audience, and you can sell your “stuff” right there and have a better tracking system for your accounting.
